WHAT GARMENT ARE YOU FIELD TESTING?
The Peak Hoody.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE GARMENT?
I thought about its colour and how it would feel very comfortable amongst the sea of darkness that is my wardrobe. I also notice the durability and practicality of the material and the rad zipper tag.
DESCRIBE A TIME WHEN YOU WORE THIS GARMENT OUTSIDE.
HOW DID IT PERFORM?
Like a champ!
HOW DOES THIS PRODUCT MAKE YOU FEEL?
Like I was ready to tackle the savagery of the coast while being cradled by a snug hug.
HOW OFTEN HAVE YOU WORN IT?
Sadly I couldn't take it on my European tour because it was a bit too much of a bundle to fit in my pack, but before I left I wore it a lot — mostly in the evenings for beach walks and so forth.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FABRIC?
It’s great — very suitable fabric for the kind of hoodie it is. Nice and sturdy and makes me feel like all the parts of me are safe inside. It may be a little too heavy and rigid to do much vigorous activity in it, but great for hiking and adventuring.
DID YOU FOLLOW THE WASHING/DRYING INSTRUCTIONS WHEN CLEANING THE GARMENT? IF NOT, HOW DID YOU CLEAN IT?
Truthfully, I didn’t wash or clean it at all. It somehow avoided getting dirty and absorbing any kind of scent even after everything I put it through.
DID THE GARMENT CHANGE AFTER USE?
The sleeves got a little creased at the elbow joints, but that would probably come out with an iron if I wasn't too lazy to use one.
DID THE GARMENT MEET YOUR NEEDS?
My lifestyle is a bit all over the place, so my needs vary when it comes to attire. Most of the time my fashion leans towards a normcore vibe with a bit of an edge, and I also perform music which means I dress up often. So this hoodie doesn’t exactly fit into that side of things, but for when I retreat to the woods, it’s perfect.
HOW WOULD YOU IMPROVE THIS PRODUCT?
I would change much — maybe bring back the secret pocket in the hood from the original style? I’d also make the sleeves a bit longer and add thumb holes to make it even cozier.
TELL US A STORY ABOUT YOU IN THIS GARMENT.
My friend and I made an impetuous decision to go off-roading for a few days to get reacquainted with our roots, and I brought my hoodie along for the ride. We took Kurt Vonnegut and art supplies to the seaside and traded lines from our books, scavenged for treasures in an antique shop, had some wine by a campfire and fell from insightful talks into laughing fits. We wrote love letters to strangers and buried them somewhere between the trees and China Beach, hoping to warm any hearts that may stumble upon them. I’m not entirely sure where I’m going with this regarding the hoodie haha, apart from the fact it was a little silent passenger on our epic adventure. It also came to the rescue at the end of the trip, when the sun went down and a ruthless wind with a side of rain took its place. But with the comfort of my candescent friend and the warmth of the hoodie, the cold had no chance.
HOW DO YOU LIKE TO SPEND YOUR WEEKEND?
Dancing, finding strangers to lure into conversation, wine dates with good people, looking for new running trails, playing music, making music.
WHAT'S ONE WAY THAT YOU LEAVE THINGS BETTER?
I’m a vegetarian — I'd like to say I became this way just to help mitigate greenhouse gas emission, but I've never even tried meat, so it's not as heroic as it sounds. Regardless, I’m happy for it. I make an effort to be as friendly as possible to the environment, and bike whenever I can — me and my music partner also take trains on tour when that option is there.
